Daily I Will Praise Thee: A Thanksgiving Reading Plan

“Hath the Lord been gracious to thee, and inclined His ear to the voice of thy supplication? Then praise Him as long as thou livest. Let the ripe fruit drop upon the fertile soil from which it drew its life.”—Charles Spurgeon

We know from the book of Psalms and really throughout all of Scripture, that to give thanks is to sing in the ways of the Lord. “Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant and a song of praise is fitting” (Psalm 147:1)

The purpose of this reading plan is to provide an increase of strength and warmness of heart as we go about this season of thanksgiving and enter into the holidays. Every day, every hour, every breath, we are blessed with rich gifts of mercy and kindness from the Lord. Although daily praise is a Christian duty, so often we take what we have for granted. I think the beauty of the holiday season is always a particular reminder to give thanks to the Lord with our whole hearts. For everything!

In this reading plan, I assigned daily a psalm and a few verses that relates to thanksgiving and praise. Please feel free to use this plan simply as a starting place. Linger on each portion and add to the cross references either by memory or by using a search engine. Spend time reading commentaries or listening to sermons on the verses that stick out to you.

May this study of Scripture cultivate in us a gratitude that sings, “all this, and Christ too?”
