Holiday Harvest Gummies

Reminiscent of a Christmas wassail or a harvest punch you may find at a Thanksgiving feast, these delicious gummies taste like harvest and the holiday season wrapped into one. This recipe uses the flavors of apple, orange, and cranberry, along with my favorite gelatin from Perfect Supplements to create a yummy wintertime snack. I love eating homemade gummies before bed because the combination of sugar from the juice and glycine from the gelatin lowers night time stress hormones which can drastically improve sleep quality. But really these are delicious any time of the day.

the benefits of homemade gummies

Gelatin contains important amino acids that can be hard to find or get enough of in our diet. Gelatin can potentially aid in improving skin health, joint health, improve gut function and digestion, build and restore muscle, promote healthy brain function and deeper sleep, and so much more! When taken in gummy form it makes it fun and delicious.

why gelatin from perfect supplements?

Perfect Supplements’ Gelatin is 100% beef gelatin exclusively from pasture-raised grass fed cows. It is 100% pesticide and hormone free and is lab tested with proof of purity. Most importantly it is the world's first certified glyphosate residue free gelatin! Clearly, not all gelatin is created equal. I love knowing I am getting the benefits of gelatin without all the yuckies that can come with other sources. I’ve been using Perfect Supplements for quite a few years now and have only had great results!

What you need

  • 1 cup of orange juice (not from concentrate & not fortified)

  • 1 cup of apple cider or apple juice (not from concentrate)

  • 1 cup of cranberry juice (not from concentrate)

  • 4 tablespoons of a good quality gelatin

  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Spoonful of honey (optional)

  • 8x8 baking dish

  • Coconut oil to grease the dish

To Prepare

  1. In a saucepan add the apple cider, cranberry juice, and cinnamon stick. Warm on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes. You don’t want this to come to a boil or really even simmer— simply heat while the cinnamon stick imparts its flavor.

  2. While the apple cider and cranberry juice is warming, place the orange juice in a separate bowl and sprinkle the gelatin over the top. Allow it to absorb and thicken, stirring if need be. This is called “blooming” the gelatin and will allow for an even incorporation when added to the warm juice.

  3. Once the juice on the stove is quite warm, but not boiling, remove it from the heat, remove the cinnamon stick, and stir in the bloomed gelatin and pinch of salt until completely dissolved. Give it a taste and add a spoonful of honey at this time if you feel it’s needed. Pour into a greased 8x8 dish.

  4. Allow to cool a bit and then transfer the dish to the fridge until fully set, about 3-5 hours.

  5. Cut into squares and enjoy! You can either cut them all at once and store in an airtight container or cut pieces as desired and cover the entire tray with cling wrap.
