Eating Seasonally: Strawberry Herb Lemonade
Hey Calico Babes! I have to admit I’m not much of a recipe person. I hate measuring and tend to create a lot of things just by intuition and taste. I’m trying to get better so I can share more recipes with you! This recipe for lemonade is customizable to your liking, so I’ve kept the amounts + directions pretty basic.
This lemonade is perfect during strawberry season, when the weather starts to get warmer and yummy drinks pair perfectly with sunshine. While I originally created this recipe with thyme, you can use any herb that you have growing fresh in your garden.
WHAT YOU NEED
2 pounds of organic lemons
A large handful of fresh organic strawberries
A handful of an herb of your choice (I love using either thyme, basil, or mint)
Organic cane sugar or local raw honey to taste
8 cups of filtered water
Lemon slices, strawberry slices, and fresh herbs for garnish
Juice your organic lemons and pour the lemon juice into a glass pitcher
De-stem your strawberries and herbs and place both into a blender along with your filtered water. Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds or until combined.
Pour the strawberry mixture into the glass pitcher that holds the lemon juice. Stir in your sweetener to taste. Chill in the fridge before serving over ice.
