Cozy Morning Rhythms | Cultivating a Quiet Heart

Hey Calico Babes! My apologies for not posting pretty much all summer. My summer was kind of a mess and I needed some time to get myself together. But, I’m back!! It felt so good to create a video again, and now to write a blog post again! I can’t believe it’s almost October. I’m trying not to be overwhelmed by all the things I am hoping to create and post about this season, but instead just slowly work my way through it.

I wanted to share a glimpse of my slow morning rhythms with you guys. I like to call my morning activities rhythms rather than routine because occasionally the order/timing varies depending on the day. Calling these rhythms helps in giving myself the permission to make those changes rather than feeling like I’m stuck on a strict schedule.

For me, how I start my mornings sets the tones for the rest of the day. If I skip my time with Jesus, I’m anxious and hurried throughout the rest of my day. If I don’t take the time to slow down and nourish my heart with things I look forward to in the mornings (coffee, sunshine, journaling, etc), I go through the rest of the day out of tune with my needs.

I hope this can give you some encouragement and inspiration to take some time to set the tone for your day with your mornings.

she’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
she looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
first thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
she senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
she’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.
— proverbs 31 MSG
